Rumion Farm is a subsidiary of Kenmore Group of Companies which represents its business interest in the Agriculture industry. It is a diversified and vertically integrated agri-business company engaged primarily in the production of livestock such as pigs and cattle and agricultural crops such as corn, sorghum and cassava for use in the manufacture of feeds for the livestock raised. It also raises to a lesser extent, goats, ducks and chickens both for meat and egg production. Rumion Farm is located at the heart of the Markham Valley along the Okuk Highway, 94 kilometers out of Lae city.
It is the largest producer of pork meat in Papua New Guinea with an average monthly pig population of 12,000 heads that supplies to a local meat manufacturer and the domestic market through major supermarkets in Lae as well as to other retail business outlets in other Provinces.
With cattle the farm has an average monthly population of 4,000 heads on a 3,800-hectare land area with prime beef supply to the local retail markets.
Rumion Farm cultivates 500-hectares at Umi in the Markham valley which is devoted to year round corn production for feed manufacturing. Sorghum is also grown mainly for forage for the cattle and cassava for the production of cassava meal that is utilized as feedstock for both the pigs and cattle.
A Feed Mill plant is located on site which manufactures and caters to the feed requirement of the piggery operation.
Rumion provides employment to under 200 local citizens for its labor requirement in its operation, mostly coming from the surrounding villages.
